MOBILE SPECTRUM AUCTION FOR UK ‘SOON’
On Tuesday, the UK government laid down a statutory instrument instructing Ofcom to coordinate a combined auction of 2.1GHz and 800MHz spectrum “as soon as possible”, writes FT.

Vodafone CEO Sir John Bond fended off a threat from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan to depose him as chairman of Vodafone, winning more than 93 percent of the votes cast at the annual shareholder meeting on Tuesday, writes FT.

HEAVY USERS OF MOBILE DATA FACE HIGHER FEES

Ad Scheepbouwer, CEO of Dutch operator KPN, said in an interview with FT that the telecom market will soon see “sanity in terms of pricing, so that people pay little for voice and start to pay more for data”. Scheepbouwer’s comments reflected the growing industry opinion that “all-you-can” data tariffs are unsustainable. “You have to differentiate between the very heavy users, the very light users and the people in between…You have to put the bill  where it belongs,” he said.
