RIM AND MOTOROLA SETTLE SMARTPHONE PATENT DISPUTE
Blackberry-maker RIM and Motorola have agreed on a settlement in their patent dispute regarding key technology. According to the agreement, RIM will make a lump-sum payment, and then start paying royalties to Motorola.
SMARTPHONE TRACKERS RAISE PRIVACY WORRIES
WSJ reports that the rapidly-growing industry of targeted advertising in smartphones, wherein users’ location and shopping habits are tracked, is raising concern. While politicians and privacy advocates are calling for more transparency, advertisers claim there is currently no infringement on individual privacy.
