REVENGE IN VIEW
Until the arrival of Apple on the scene, Nokia was the world’s largest and most profitable mobile phone manufacturer. But recently, with iPhones and Android-based handsets flooding the market, Nokia’s Symbian has been criticized for being old-fashioned and cumbersome. New investments by Nokia in the more user-friendly Symbian 4 and Meego, are expected to change this for Nokia, as the use of Meego will lead to the development of smaller and more powerful devices.
 
SMALL GERMAN COMPANY PUSHES PAST NOKIA
Germany’s Wetab will precede Nokia to the market in September with a hand-held device based on Nokia’s own operative system, Meego, developed in conjunction with Intel, despite expectations Nokia would present its first Meego product at its major conference for developers in London last week. The effect of Meego, which can also be used for ARM-based computers, is the further diminishing of the line between computers and mobile phones.
