CHINA’S LENOVO
The Chinese-owned Lenovo Group is looking to expand in both the tablet-PC and the smartphone markets, writes WSJ. The status of the development of the tablet PC is unclear, but Lenovo spokesman Jay Chen said the company is working on a “family of Internet devices,” and added that Lenovo is investigating open-source platforms, such as Google’s Android. Sales of the company’s LePhone smartphone device have been slow, largely due to a shortage of touchscreen panels, but Lenovo’s CEO Yang Yuanqing has said the company will solve the panel-shortage issue, and hopes to sell one million devices in the next twelve months.
