BRITISH TELECOM CEO LOOKING FOR MULTI-ENGINE GROWTH

So far, Ian Livingstone, CEO of British Telecom, has prevailed through two years of cost-cutting, pension-deficit woes and the economic recession. Having experienced significant decreases in its voice telecom operations, BT is looking to a future in which the telecom titan will have to look for multiple tracks on which to roll its growth trains, among them pay TV, broadband and IT services. Livingstone points out the importance of not putting all of BT’s eggs in one basket, commenting: “I’m not a big fan of these heart or lung questions.”
