CHINA UNICOM TO OFFER IPHONE WITH WIFI
Starting today, China Unicom will offer iPhones with WiFi capability, reports FT. The announcement signals a loosening of the Chinese government’s insistence on requiring all devices to come equipped with WAPI, its own domestically developed alternative to WiFi. In addition, China Unicom is in discussions with Apple to promote the IPhone 4 and the IPad. 

INMARSAT TO INVEST USD1.2 BILLION IN SATELLITES
Inmarsat, which provides telecom services to ships, airplanes, militaries and other users in remote locations, will purchase three Ka-band satellites from Boeing for USD1.2 billion. The telecom provider expects the investment to enable it to supply global high-speed broadband services, as it shifts from the slower L-band spectrum, writes FT.
