WSJ reports that Sprint inadvertently exaggerated initial sales figures of its Evo 4G smartphone. On Tuesday, Sprint admitted that it had only sold a third as many as it had first reported. The Evo 4G is still a huge success, having broken all previous first-day sales records for Sprint.

APPLE PUSHES MOBILE ADS
WSJ reports that Steve Jobs announced that Apple’s mobile advertising platform, iAd, is set to go live on July 1, raking in USD60 million in revenues in its first six months. Jobs said that iAd will be incorporated into the new iPhone 4.

GOOGLE BLASTS APPLE ON AD RULES
Google has voiced some loud criticism over Apple’s newly-imposed rules on developers that could obstruct the search-engine giant and other Apple rivals from selling advertising inside Apple’s devices, reports WSJ. Apple changed the rules on Monday, and one of Google’s vice presidents said that the new regulations “hurt both large and small developers by severely limiting their choice of how best to make money.” Apple declined to comment on the matter.
