SHORTAGE OF PARTS PUTS STRAIN ON NETWORK EQUIPMENT SALES
WSJ reports that telecom equipment suppliers are suffering a strain on sales, as they scramble for parts amid a scaled-down component-maker industry. The cutbacks came as a response to the recession, and now manufacturers are unable to restore their capacities to meet demand. Both Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent have stated on the first quarter reports in April that they were unable to fully meet customer demands. Analysts predict it will take 3-4 months before the, mostly Chinese, component makers restore their production levels.
