IF WE BUILD IT THEY WILL COME, RUSSIANS HOPE
Some time ago this year, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev appointed the business tycoon Viktor Vekselberg to develop a new major global hub for technological innovation. In the next couple of years, the Russian government will build offices, labs and apartments at the Skolkovo innovation center, near Moscow, in hopes of creating its own version of Silicon Valley, writes WSJ. Viktor Vekselberg is hoping to attract the world’s finest engineers with the slogan “Come live, create and do good for yourself, Russia and the whole of civilization.”


AT&T SWAMPED BY IPHONE ORDERS
AT&T’s website was swamped by a barrage of iPhone orders on Tuesday, and it seems to have caused another security glitch in the telecom titan’s information systems, reports WSJ. This time, when users logged into the website, they were shuttled into other users’ accounts. AT&T has stated that it is “looking into the issue”.



FiOS ON SLOW MANHATTAN ROLLOUT
It has been two years since FiOS—bundled Internet, phone and TV service—was rolled out in Manhattan, but it is slow going: So far, only 17 percent of all homes in Manhattan have access to the service.
