NOKIA ROLLS OUT PEDAL-POWERED CHARGER
Nokia yesterday unveiled a pedal-powered battery charger for mobiles. “Bicycles are the most widespread means of transport in many markets around the world, so this is just one more benefit to be gained from an activity people are already doing,” Nokia’s Vice President Alex Lambeek said at a launch event in Nairobi, Kenya. By plugging handsets into the handlebar-mounted charger, which is connected to a dynamo harnessing electricity from the wheels, it would take a cyclist two-and-a-half hours to fully charge a battery, according to the company.
