VODAFONE TO RECEIVE USD5 BILLION FROM SOFTBANK

Vodafone announced it will sell its interests in SoftBank for USD5 billion as it presented better-than-expected half-year results yesterday. Vodafone reported a 56-percent increase in net profit for the six months ended September 30, which reflects the recent sale of a 3.2-percent stake in China Mobile, writes WSJ. Revenue in the period reached GBP22.6 billion, up 3.9 percent over the same period last year. IHT writes that Vodafone’s chief executive, Vittorio Colao, said he was reviewing all minority interests amid pressure from shareholders to squeeze more out of the investments.
