ERICSSON’S TOWER TUBE STILL WAITING FOR TAKEOFF
So far, Ericsson’s futuristic site solution the Tower Tube has experienced slower-than-expected sales, writes DI. However, Ericsson's Ulf Ewaldsson, vice president and head of radio products, says that the favorable exposure Ericsson has gained from the Tower Tube more than compensates for its so-far disappointing sales. Ewaldsson adds that Ericsson has no plans of discontinuing the project. The Tower Tube is both earthquake-proof and environmentally-friendly, and Ewaldsson says it will help mobile operators cut operational expenses. “There is huge interest, which was reflected just recently when we inaugurated a tower each in India and China,” Ewaldsson adds, and concludes that the Tower Tube is part of a complete site-solution offered to mobile operators.
