APPLE PROFITS SURPASS IBM
Apple posted a 70-percent increase in quarterly earnings, to USD4.31 billion. By comparison, IBM’s earnings in the same period went up twelve percent to USD3.59 billion. Revenues in the quarter were up 67 percent from a year ago to USD20.3 billion for Apple, and three percent for IBM to USD24.3 billion. On Wednesday, at its “Back to the Mac” conference, Apple plans to unveil a new version of its computer operating software, WSJ reports.
