SLEEPING GIANT WAKES UP TO TECHNOLOGY
FT writes about BT’s new big project. BT Vision has not tackled its rivals impressively since launching in 2006. With fewer than 500,000 subscribers, it missed its initial target of 2m-3m. But its recent Sky Sports deal allows BT Retail on own pay-TV service. Further improvements will soon come from a new fibre-optic broadband network, BT Infinity, now available to 1.5m homes with speeds topping 40 megabits per second. That combination could make Vision a stronger proposition to sell to BT’s 5.2m broadband customers.
