SAN
FRANCISCO MOBILE RADIATION LAW EXPECTED TO
PASS
According to a law expected to be enacted by the city of San Francisco today, mobile phone retailers will for the first time be required to display the amount of radiation emitted by the devices they sell. “Telephone manufacturers currently disclose mobile phone radiation levels to the federal government. This same information should also be made easily accessible to the consumer,” the city’s mayor Gavin Newsom said when the bill was introduced in January. Supporters of the bill expect it to prompt manufacturers to lower radiation levels in phones in the same way stricter labeling standards resulted in chemical companies removing toxic ingredients from products to avoid product warnings.
